We saw many different wild flowers today in Gillott’s Field, including pyramidal orchids and bee orchids. The field also contains a lot of ragwort which will be partly controlled by mowing. The sections containing the orchids will not be mown, so our task today was pulling out the ragwort by hand. Among the other flowers we saw were: fox and cubs (orange hawkweed), white campion, goat’s beard, wild basil, hounds tongue and lesser stitchwort.
