It is the goal of the managers of the Ewelme site to create a wild flower meadow at the ‘top fields’ of the watercress beds. This requires the fields to become poor in nutrients, which is achieved by removing all nutrient rich material from the sites. In practical terms, grass is cut and removed from the field. SCGG assisted in this tasks by this week removing the (dried) cuttings from the field, bringing back memories of the old hay harvesting. Helped by perfect weather for the occasion this turned out to be a pleasant task.
