We were lucky with the sunshine again for our second consecutive visit to Withymead on 2nd January. Tony led a team to build a post-and-rail fence between the car park entrance and the secondary gate to the Forest School area. Bramble clearance continued behind the Forest School shelter, almost completed by the end of the session, and more tall laurels were felled to shoulder height in the garden, ready for winching out their roots. The morning ended with delicious sausages barbecued by Christine. They couldn’t be cooked on the bonfire because laurel leaves are toxic, but we now have a barbecue for Green Gym use constructed by Tony!
