Nettlebed Common

Accessing Priest’s Hill from the car park entails a walk beside the sports pitch to the small bridge thence back again along the higher ground. Today a group of us constructed a set of steps which will shortly lead directly to Priest’s Hill, where bluebells are currently blooming in azure swathes. A second group took saws and loppers to the old scout camp, an open glade where we have worked over the years to encourage the spread of heather. Beech trees at the edge were trailing long branches which we pruned back to let in more light for this year’s heather. Prize-winning cherry cake and shortbread at coffee break.
