Aston Rowant

We were joined by an office group on a volunteer day at the October session at Aston Rowant, where the task was to cut brambles on Beacon Hill. The brambles had grown too much for the sheep to keep down, so they were crowding out the rich variety of wildflowers which support much wildlife, including the many ants whose ancient hills we had to avoid underfoot. The brambles were wet, making it difficult to get the bonfire going, but by the end of the session all the cuttings were burned.
