Flowercroft Wood

20130406 1207 sToday (Sat 6th) we coppiced some old hazel stools in Flowercroft Wood.  Once all the branches had been cut down low we used them to make stag-beetle “hotels”.  Stag-beetles lay their eggs in rotting wood, so our upright logs set into the earth should eventually make an ideal habitat for these rare insects.
