Scrub bashing/spud roast at Aston Rowant
We always go scrub bashing at our last session at Aston Rowant NR before Christmas, burning the clippings and using the bonfire to roast spuds for a celebratory lunch. On 19th December we fielded a large team to clear heavy scrub regrowth alongside a footpath. The weather was dry, but the brash was very wet, so the bonfire took time to get hot. All was well in the end – the bonfire coped with mountains of scrub and its hot ash made a perfect bed for spud roasting.
