Only 6 of us turned out today to continue the erection of a post-and-wire fence at the SE corner of Ipsden Wood. This was to replace a derelict boundary fence for the Forestry Commission, so part of the task was to remove rusty wire and rotten fence posts. It was an idyllic sunlit morning (apart from the horseflies), very quiet apart from the calling of young buzzards in the treetops (had to check out the call later on the net as we couldn’t see them).
Our monkey strainer couldn’t cope with the slippery FC wire, so Chris improvised with an iron bar to tension the wires. It will probably take another 2 sessions to complete the fence.
