The patches of heather at Burnt Platt were all but smothered by pine, birch and brambles when we arrived in late July, a small crew of 6. However we managed to reveal by the end of the session a decent area of heather at the western side of field where the trees at the edge provide the partial shade that heather thrives on. We also thrived there away from the hot sun!
