Our session on 28th April included the building of a stockade on the water meadow at Cleeve Court, Streatley, a new concept for us involving improvisation, not to say inspiration! The stockade is to replace the derelict fence along the Thames footpath, and to construct it we drive in two lines of posts and infill with long logs using the cut materials from willows felled in previous sessions. On top we fixed a sort of trellis made from worn-out wooden ladders after interweaving them with willow strands. When completed, the stockade should repel all-comers (stray dogs, at least).
