ite Home Farm in Binfield Heath this mixed native woodland on the Phillimore Estate contains many attractive species of rhododendron and azalea.
Rhododendron ponticum, however, does not sustain native wildlife and has been spreading thickly in the wood. SCGG started clearance of the R. ponticum in 2017, the new glades now letting in more light as can be seen from the road (there is no public access) to encourage woodland flora. The eventual removal of all the R. ponticum here will prevent it spreading to cause problems elsewhere.
